These terms govern the use of the site and of the Charon application, published by Lucas Raffalli (see the legal notice). Downloading or using the application means you accept these terms.
Charon is made available free of charge, for personal and professional use alike. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable right of use, on as many machines as you wish.
The following are prohibited without prior written permission: redistributing the application, reselling it, modifying it, as well as decompiling it, reverse engineering it and extracting all or part of its code, within the limits allowed by law.
Charon relies on free software, which remains subject to its own licenses: see the Licenses page.
Charon is free today. In the future, the publisher may offer paid features, versions or uses. Such a change will be announced in advance on this site and will not be retroactive: a version already downloaded remains usable under the terms in force when it was downloaded.
The only official channels are the Download page of this site and the Homebrew tap lucasraffalli/charon. A copy obtained elsewhere is not covered by these terms and may have been modified.
The application is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, to the extent permitted by law, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or absence of defects. The publisher does not guarantee continuity, the absence of errors, or compatibility with any particular setup.
Charon handles files on remote servers, runs commands and can delete data. You alone remain responsible for the operations you perform, for the servers you connect to and for backing up your data. The application’s safeguards (production badge, read-only, remote trash, confirmations) reduce risks without removing them.
To the extent permitted by law, the publisher cannot be held liable for any data loss, business interruption, or direct or indirect damage resulting from the use of, or inability to use, the application.
It is up to you to make sure you are authorized to access the servers you configure, and to comply with the applicable regulations.
Charon can run modules that add commands and dashboards. Each module runs isolated, with only the permissions shown when it is enabled, and never has access to passwords or the keychain. A module that does not ship with Charon remains its author’s responsibility: only enable it if you trust them.
The application checks for updates and can install them after verifying their cryptographic signature. Features may evolve, be modified or be removed from one version to the next.
A report or idea you send may be used to improve Charon, without compensation. Never include a password, key or confidential data. What happens to this information is described on the Privacy page.
You can stop using Charon at any time by uninstalling it: there is no account to close and no subscription to cancel. Your profiles stay on your machine and your passwords in the system keychain, where you can delete them yourself.
These terms may be changed. The applicable version is the one published on this page at the time of your use.
